Monopoly Challenge

Take in London’s iconic landmarks in this challenge within the heart of the capital.

The date for the first 2022 challenge is: Thursday 23rd June. Time: noon - 4pm

Support the homeless work of the Whitechapel Mission by taking on the Monopoly Challenge.

Each team will need to consist of 4 people. We need a photo of the whole of your 4 person team at each location, clearly showing the 4 of you and some form of identification mark for the Monopoly Square. A street or station sign. Once photos are uploaded to the Mission, they will be verified and points awarded as the team moves about the city.

How many of the monopoly squares can you and your team visit in a 4 hour period? It is possible to walk the 12 miles in just 5 hours, but we are allowing only 4 hours. So, you can walk, jump the tube, or grab some Boris bikes.

A team of 4 persons, meeting at Whitechapel Mission (The Hub) will be timed to go around London and tag every square on the Monopoly board in any order, using whichever mode of transport they wish in 4 hours.

Once the team has arrived at a checkpoint (monopoly square), all 4 members of team must take a background “selfie” photo to prove arrival and live stream the pic back to the hub at Whitechapel. A team of invigilators will be there to log the times, check photos and post to the website.

If the photo is incorrect e.g. (a team member missing from the frame) that team will not be credited with the points for that location.

Additional points will also be awarded to teams reaching the furthest points, and for landing on a checkpoint first.

A company can have more than one team entered.

Each team may choose to wear their company logo t-shirts and but must carry their Challenge board (given at registration on the day).

"Whitechapel" must be the last monopoly square that you visit. It will not count if visited earlier in the game

All teams to meet back at the Hub by 4pm where a presentation will be held.

Double points for the first team to land on any given monopoly square.

Each monopoly square visited has a number of points associated with it.
The more difficult the monopoly square is to find, the more points availbale.
Double points are awarded for the first team to arrive at a particular monopoly square.

Extra points for visiting all monopoly squares in a colour block simultaneously

Visit all the monopoly squares of one particular colour consecutively and receive double points.
Be the first to vist those colour matched monopoly squares and get double point on top of double points.

Extra points for imagination

It may need some thought to find "Electric Company", "Water Works" or "Jail".
Extra points may be awarded for imagination in finding these locations (at the discretion of the team of invigilators).

There are five possible awards available.

Team achieving the most monopoly squares
- If two teams have he same number of monopoly squares visited, then the team that arrived first will win this award
Most money raised to date
Team with most points
- If two teams have he same number of points, then the team that arrived back at the Hub first will win this award
Funniest photo sent in
- Totally at the discretion of the team of invigilators

The Challenge

This is a fundraising event for the Mission and in 2022 the monies will be used to fund the refurbishment and renewal of the ladies showers and toilets. The dignity and privacy we take for granted when we use the lavatory, should be available to all.
